Sunderland are interested in signing goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, according to the agent of the Belgium Under-21 international.
The 21-year-old shot-stopper currently plays for St-Truidense in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League and has also been linked with a summer switch to PSV Eindhoven.
“Simon has made a choice that he wants to sign for Sunderland and it is now up to the clubs to find an agreement as quickly as possible,” agent Nico Vaesen told The Journal.
“He did have options but he has decided to go to Sunderland. It is still to be finalised but I think it is close now – the clubs are not far apart on a fee.
“I think we’re 99 per cent agreed on everything and there are no problems.”
Scotland international Craig Gordon is Sunderland’s number one but back-up keeper Marton Fulop could leave the Stadium of Light during the summer transfer window.
